Mit dem „Marburger Leuchtfeuer für Soziale Bürgerrechte“ wurde am 3. Mai 2012 der langjährige Lebenshilfe-Bundesgeschäftsführer Dr. Bernhard Conrads ausgezeichnet. Der Magistrat der Universitätsstadt Marburg und die HU Marburg verleihen diese Auszeichnung in Anerkennung herausragenden Einsatzes für die gleichberechtigte Teilhabe aller Menschen am gesellschaftlichen Leben. Oberbürgermeister Egon Vaupel überreichte den undotierten Preis gemeinsam mit Jury-Sprecher Matthias Schulz im Rahmen einer Feierstunde im Historischen Saal des Marburger Rathauses. Die Laudatio hielt Ottmar Miles-Paul, Behindertenbeauftragter des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz.<\/p>\n
1979 hatte Conrads seine Tätigkeit in einer Unternehmensberatung aufgegeben, um sich einer sinnstiftenden Aufgabe zuzuwenden. Von 1979 bis 1988 war er zunächst Stellvertretender Bundesgeschäftsführer der Lebenshilfe, bevor er 1988 die Leitung der bundesweiten Organisation übernahm. Zudem war er viele Jahre lang 2. Vorsitzender der Aktion Mensch sowie Gründungsmitglied gleich mehrerer internationaler Behindertenorganisationen. In all diesen Funktionen hat er sich stets für eine Erneuerung und möglichst viel Selbstbestimmung der Betroffenen eingesetzt.<\/p>\n
Mit der diesjährigen Preisvergabe weist die HU Marburg darauf hin, dass „Inklusion“ nicht als Vorwand für Sparmaßnahmen an Behinderten dienen darf, dass die Einbeziehung von Behinderten in alle Bereiche des Alltags eine unerlässliche Voraussetzung für jede verwirklichte Demokratie ist.<\/p>\n
