(SL) Mit einem Festakt in der Berliner Akademie der Künste beging die Humanistische Union (HU) am 24. September ihr 50-jähriges Bestehen. Passend zum Gründungslabel der Organisation („kulturpolitische Vereinigung“) begleitete das Vokalquartett „zu Viert“ (Foto) den Abend. Rund 200 Gäste erlebten eine Feier der etwas anderen Art: Einmal abgesehen von den Grußworten des Bundesdatenschutzbeauftragten und der Piratenpartei bot der Abend nicht die übliche Lobhudelei, sondern kritische Selbstreflektion über den Zustand und die Zukunftsaussichten der Humanistischen Union.<\/p>\n
Der Befund des Podiums, bestehend aus der Bundesverfassungsrichterin Susanne Baer, der Journalistin und Autorin Daniela Dahn sowie dem Moderator Christian Rath: die Bedingungen für erfolgreiche Bürgerrechtsarbeit sind schwierig, aber nicht aussichtslos. Die HU solle ruhig einen bunten Methodenmix pflegen, damit seien auch amerikanische Vorbilder wie die ACLU recht erfolgreich. Mehr Aufmerksamkeit verdiene jedoch die Bündnispflege, auch über das eigenen Lager hinaus. Nur so könne die HU ihre Funktion als Katalysator sozialer Protestbewegungen wahrnehmen, die sie in der Vergangenheit auszeichnete. Susanne Baer berichtete, wie sie die HU als einen Verein kennen lernte, in dem weitgehend ideologiefreie Diskussionen möglich seien, ohne Denkverbote. Daniela Dahn wünschte sich, dass von der HU wieder ein stärkerer Widerspruch in den politischen Debatten ausgehe – und nahm sich zugleich selbst in die Pflicht, sich in ihrer Funktion als Beiratsmitglied stärker einzubringen. Darauf freuen wir uns, denn genau so funktioniert die Humanistische Union.<\/p>\n
