Berliner Bündnis fordert Wahlrecht für alle Menschen, die dauerhaft in Berlin leben –  Fahrrad­de­mon­s­tra­tion am 08.06.2013 ist Startschuss für weitere Aktivitäten<\/span><\/h2>\n

Das von der Humanistischen Union unterstützte zivilgesellschaftliche Bündnis „Wahlrecht für alle“ ruft am 08. Juni 2013 zu einer Fahrraddemonstration im Herzen Berlins auf. Mit der Aktion soll darauf aufmerksam gemacht werden, dass rund 440.000 Bürgerinnen und Bürger der Stadt Berlin von demokratischen Prozessen nahezu vollständig ausgeschlossen sind. Sie haben weder das Wahlrecht, noch können sie sich an direktdemokratischen Verfahren beteiligen, da sie nicht die deutsche Staatsbürgerschaft besitzen. Das Bündnis fordert deswegen, allen Berlinerinnen und Berlinern, die einen dauerhaften Wohnsitz in der Stadt haben, unabhängig von der Staatsbürgerschaft das Wahlrecht auf kommunaler Ebene sowie auf Landesebene einzuräumen.<\/p>\n

„Die Verknüpfung von Wahlrecht und Staatsangehörigkeit ist undemokratisch“, so Oliver Wiedmann von dem Bündnispartner Mehr Demokratie. „Die Berlinerinnen und Berliner ohne deutschen Pass sind genauso von Entscheidungen zu Bildungsfragen oder zur Stadtentwicklung betroffen wie die mit deutscher Staatsangehörigkeit. Deswegen sollten sie darüber genauso mitreden und mitentscheiden können.“ Auch die doppelte Staatsbürgerschaft löst dieses Problem nicht. Diese zu beantragen ist mit hohen Hürden wie einer langen Wartefrist, gewissen Bildungsanforderungen und dem Nachweis eines lückenlosen Einkommens verbunden. „Wahlen und Abstimmungen sind die zentralen Mittel der politischen Einflussnahme. Geringe Bildung oder prekäre Beschäftigung darf nicht zum Ausschluss von politischer Mitbestimmung führen“, erläutert Wiedmann.<\/p>\n

Hintergrund:<\/span><\/h2>\n

In Europa gewähren insgesamt 15 Staaten, darunter Länder wie Großbritannien, Niederlande, Dänemark und Spanien, Drittstaatenangehörigen das Wahlrecht mindestens auf der lokalen Ebene. Im Bundesland Bremen wird zurzeit die Ausweitung des Landeswahlrechts für EU-Bürgerinnen und Bürger beraten. Die Landesregierung in Schleswig-Holstein hat eine Bundesratsinitiative zur Einführung eines deutschlandweiten kommunalen Wahlrechts für Nicht-EU-Bürgerinnen und Bürger angekündigt.<\/p>\n
