Heinemann nahm am 28.September 1970 in seinem Amtssitz den von der Humanistischen Union gestifteten Fritz-Bauer-Preis entgegen. Der Preis wird an Pers\u00f6nlichkeiten verliehen, &#132;die sich im Sinne der \u00dcberzeugungen Fritz Bauers und der Bestrebungen der Humanistischen Union in allgemeiner Weise oder auf einem besonderen Gebiet darum bem\u00fcht haben, der Gerechtigkeit und Menschlichkeit in unserer Gesetzgebung, Rechtsprechung und im Strafvollzug Geltung zu verschaffen&#148;.
