Im Jahr 2024 sind die Staatsleistungen der Bundesl\u00e4nder an die Kirchen auf 618 Millionen Euro<\/a> gestiegen. Seit 1949 haben die L\u00e4nder insgesamt 21,3 Milliarden Euro an die evangelische und katholische Kirche gezahlt. Diese Zahlungen sind zweckungebunden und werden mit Steuermitteln (auch von Nichtkirchenmitgliedern) gezahlt. Der Betrag steigt j\u00e4hrlich, obwohl die Mitgliederzahlen der Kirchen sinken.<\/p>\n

Seit 1919 besteht der Verfassungsauftrag, diese Staatsleistungen abzul\u00f6sen. Das Grundgesetz hat diesen Auftrag 1949 erneuert. Gleichwohl werden die Zahlungen bis heute fortgesetzt.
