(SL) Albert Eckert wurde am 27. Januar 2012 in Berlin mit dem Bundesverdienstkreuz am Bande ausgezeichnet. Der langjährige Leiter der Öffentlichkeitsarbeit der Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung wurde für sein Engagement gegen Diskriminierung und die Anerkennung von Homosexuellen geehrt. Eckert war u.a. maßgeblich am Zustandekommen des Mahnmals für die von den Nationalsozialisten verfolgten Homosexuellen beteiligt. Er engagierte sich neben der Humanistischen Union in zahlreichen weiteren gemeinnützigen Projekten, etwa in der Neuen Gesellschaft für Bildende Kunst oder Kunst im Knast e.V. Die Laudatio hielt Rüdiger Lautmann.
