Der auch als Romancier und Aphoristiker bekannte Karlheinz Deschner zählt zweifelsohne weltweit zu den bedeutendsten wie umstrittensten zeitgenössischen Kritikern des Christentums. Seit fast einem halben Jahrhundert arbeitet der mittlerweile 84-jährige, im unterfränkischen Haßfurt lebende Literat an einem Sittengemälde des Christentums und hat dazu wie kaum ein anderer in über 30 Büchern dessen dunkle Geschichte ausgeleuchtet. Seine Schriften sind mittlerweile in mehr als einer Million Exemplaren verbreitet und in zwölf Sprachen übersetzt (auch ins Arabische).<\/p>\n
Seit 1986 erscheint sein monumentales Hauptwerk über die vergangenen zwei Jahrtausende: „Kriminalgeschichte des Christentums“, auf zehn Bände konzipiert. Mit dem nunmehr vorliegenden Band 9 betritt Deschner die Frühe Neuzeit. Angesichts der durch die weltweite Ausbreitung des Christentums vorliegenden Quellen ist er im Vergleich zu seinen Vorgängern zu kurz ausgefallen. Auch im neuen Band bietet der Kriminalhistoriker ein erschreckendes Panaroma von Lug und Trug, Blut und Mord im Zeichen des Kreuzes; statt der verheißenen Heilsgeschichte die eines „monströsen Unheils“.<\/p>\n
Sichtbar wird dieses auch in der reformatorischen Kirche, besonders im calvinistisch-theokratischen Genf, wo, ähnlich wie im Mittelalter, zur „Ehre Gottes“ zahlreiche „Ketzer“ auf dem Scheiterhaufen landeten. Eine breite Blutspur findet der Autor auch im konfessionellen Zeitalter (ca. 1540-1648) mit seinem von religiösem Hass befeuerten „grässlichen Gemetzel“ des Dreißigjährigen Krieges. Hauptakteure jener Epoche waren die vom „Kadavergehorsam“ und „Kriegsdienst für Gott“ beseelten Jesuiten.<\/p>\n
Über Europa hinaus kommt Deschner – allerdings etwas zu knapp – auf die weltweite Expansion des christlichen Abendlands zu sprechen, die bekanntlich verheerende Folgen besaß. Dem Ausgreifen auf Afrika, das den Beginn des Sklavenhandels markiert, folgt die Eroberung Amerikas („amerikanischer Holocaust“). Dort wurden Abermillionen der Indigenen vernichtet: im Norden von den protestantischen Briten, im Süden von den katholischen Spaniern und Portugiesen, wobei „das Blut der Häuptlinge wie Wasser floss“ (so eine aztekische Chronik). Die „Jahwe-Kriege“ des Alten Testaments mitunter als Vorbild ansehend, spielte dabei der Missionsgedanke eine entscheidende Rolle, der in den Ureinwohnern „gottlose Ungeheuer“ sah. Papst Johannes Paul II. wusste dieses „Völkermorden“ – man kann es kaum glauben – als von Gott bewirkte „Zeit des Heils“ zu legitimieren (so 1979 während seines Haiti-Besuchs).<\/p>\n
Auch im neuen Band, der mit dem absolutistischen, „allerchristlichsten Sonnenkönig“ Ludwig XIV. (1638-1715) endet, geht es dem humanistischen Autor nicht um eine wohlproportionierte, „ausgeklügelte“ Darstellung; vielmehr schreibt er, mitunter in sarkastischem Unterton, als ein moderner Voltaire, der das Geschehen durch die Augen der Opfer zu sehen sucht. So hat er mit seiner in farbiger Sprache dicht erzählten „Kriminalgeschichte“ eine quellenreiche Alternative zur herkömmlichen Kirchenhistoriographie geschaffen, die noch immer unter apologetischen Vorzeichen steht.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":4228,"template":"","categories":[],"tags":[656,791],"autoren":[578],"publikationen":[932],"class_list":["post-9334","publikation","type-publikation","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-religion","tag-rezension","autoren-werner-raupp","publikationen-932"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
