Mitteilungen Nr. 191, S.19<\/p>\n

Am 19. Oktober 2005 startete das European Civil Liberties Network (ECLN) mit einer Pressekonferenz in Brüssel. Initiiert und betreut von der britischen Bürgerrechtsorganisation statewatch<\/i> will das ECLN in erster Linie eine Kommunikationsplattform für Bürgerrechtsgruppen in ganz Europa sein. Dazu wurde zunächst eine Internetplattform unter www.ecln.org geschaffen, ein Büro in Brüssel soll folgen. Als „Observatorium“ für Bürgerrechte in Europa will das ECLN anbieten:<\/p>\n

1. Information und Dokumentation aktueller politischer Entwicklungen auf europäischer, nationaler und kommunaler Ebene<\/p>\n

2. Analyse politischer, rechtlicher und sozialer Entwicklungen zum weitergehenden Verständnis<\/p>\n

3. Raum für Gruppen und Einzelpersonen, um gemeinsam an Themen und Projekten zu arbeiten<\/p>\n

4. Entwicklung von Forschung und Online-Publikationen<\/p>\n

5. Informationen über Aktionen und Interventionen in öffentlichen Diskussionen und Möglichkeit zur gegenseitigen Unterstützung als Mittel gegen Isolation und Marginalisierung von Themen und Gruppen<\/p>\n

Thematische Anknüpfungspunkte sind Fragen zu Polizei und öffentlicher Ordnung, Migration und Asyl, Rassismus und Faschismus, Überwachung und Datenschutz, Biometrie, Rechtsentwicklung, Geheimdiensten, Gefängnissen, militärischem und zivilem Krisenmanagement, Informationsfreiheit, demokratischer Kontrolle und Verantwortung.<\/p>\n

Die Humanistische Union unterstützt das ECNL seit der Gründung. Zu erreichen ist das ECLN unter
