Die Humanistische Union setzt dem Ruf nach dem starken Staat bürgerrechtliche Argumente entgegen. Gegen eine repressive Kriminalpolitik, die mit den Ängsten der Menschen spielt, setzt sie die Erkenntnis, daß viele Regelungen zum „Schutz der Inneren Sicherheit“ vor allem zum Abbau von Freiheitsrechten und Rechtsstaatlichkeit führen.<\/p>\n

Die Humanistische Union betrachtet die Grundrechte als unverzichtbare Voraussetzung für eine freie Entfaltung und Selbstbestimmung der Menschen. Als Bürgerrechtsorganisation setzt sie sich u.a. ein für<\/p>\n

– Begrenzung der Macht von Polizei und anderen staatlichen Institutionen<\/p>\n

– Abschaffung der Geheimdienste und der Bürgerbelauschung<\/p>\n

– informationelle Selbstbestimmung, Datenschutz, Akteneinsichtsrecht<\/p>\n

– das Recht auf Meinungsfreiheit und Demonstrationsfreiheit<\/p>\n

– die Gleichberechtigung und Gleichstellung von Frauen<\/p>\n

– die Rechte von Minderheiten, Gefangenen, Flüchtlingen<\/p>\n

– das Selbstbestimmungsrecht von Kranken und Sterbenden<\/p>\n

– mehr demokratische Mitwirkungsrechte (zum Beispiel Volksentscheide)<\/p>\n

– eine konsequente Trennung von Staat und Kirche<\/p>\n

– Entkriminalisierung von Drogen<\/p>\n

Die Humanistische Union ist die älteste Bürgerrechtsorganisation in der Bundesrepublik. Seit 1961 hat sie sich unter anderem eingesetzt gegen Notstandsgesetze, menschenunwürdige Verhältnisse in Gefängnissen und Psychiatrie, § 218, Berufsverbote, Volkszählung, Einschränkung des Asylrechtes und den Lauschangriff. Mit Veranstaltungen, Stellungnahmen, Veröffentlichungen und in enger Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Initiativen, engagierten Einzelpersonen und kritischen Fachleuten mischt sie sich ein, wenn Menschen- und Bürgerrechte eingeschränkt werden.<\/p>\n
