In einer beispiellosen Serie hat das Bundesverfassungsgericht in den letzten Monaten staatliche Überwachungsbegehren zurückgewiesen und einen stärkeren Schutz der Grundrechte eingefordert. Die permanente Überschreitung freiheitlicher Grenzen durch die Gesetzgeber in Bund und Ländern, aber auch die immer wiederkehrenden Übergriffe staatlicher Überwachung und Ungleichbehandlung durch die Exekutive weisen auf eine Missachtung der höchstrichterlichen Rechtsprechung und eine schleichende Erosion unserer grundgesetzlichen Freiheitsordnung hin.<\/p>\n
Im Grundrechte-Report 2008, der im Fischer Taschenbuch Verlag erscheint, dokumentieren mittlerweile zum zwölften Mal neun Menschen- und Bürgerrechtsorganisationen eine Fülle beispielhafter Fälle. Die herausgebenden Organisationen wurden im April diesen Jahres mit der Theodor-Heuss-Medaille ausgezeichnet für „ihre scharfe Beobachtung und Analyse des Spannungsverhältnisses zwischen den Verfassungsgrundsätzen und der Verfassungswirklichkeit, mit der sie der demokratischen Bürgergesellschaft ein Instrument zur Wahrung ihrer vitalen Interessen an die Hand geben.“ Dieser Verpflichtung bleibt der Grundrechte-Report auch in der nun vorgelegten Ausgabe treu.<\/p>\n
